We have a couple of unusual places where you can spend an exciting night or two with us at The Secret campsite, The Tree Tent and our Gridshell structure. Both of these beautiful shelters have been designed by local inventor and designer Jason Thawley.
Our Secret Shelters both have a cut grass space for you to relax on. This space has its own campfire area and you will receive a firewood allowance on your arrival. You can also purchase further firewood when you book or whilst at the site.
The Secret Shelters have different limits for the number of people that can stay in them, so please check the capacity when you book. If you have friends keen to camp with you, please just ask if they can be accommodated on neighbouring pitches and subject to availability we will do our best to make sure they are staying next door on their own spacious camping pitch.
In the highly likely event that you fall in love with your Secret Shelter, they are both for sale and Jason, their inventor, will happily create a bespoke version and deliver it to your home, or to your own Secret Hideaway.
The Tree Tent
Our Tree Tent is similar to a Harvest Mouse nest, and it is the first one to go up in England. The Tree Tent featured in George Clarkes Amazing Spaces and has been lovingly created by Brighton based designer Jason Thawley.
Access to the Tree Tent is via wooden stairs, and the tent is suspended between 3 sturdy oak trees on the edge of the ancient woodland that surrounds the camping meadow. From the two windows in the Tree Tent there are fantastic views across the campsite and on to the South Downs National Park. Inside you will find three single beds with mattresses enabling you to relax and take in the canopy view, whilst gently moving with the sway of the trees. The Tree Tent has its own grass pitch where you can enjoy a campfire at your exclusive fire pit. The Tree Tent is designed to sleep 2 adults but can also accommodate a child on the third bed. You can also pitch your own tent on the space beneath the tree tent but you must not exceed our maximum pitch numbers.
